A PIECE OF HISTORY
Glencoe clan and the Massacre of Glencoe in 1692, with evidence suggesting occupation from at least the 17th century. The present three-storey house dates from circa 1785, and was later home to Ellen Burns MacDonald, a descendant of the MacDonald chiefs and benefactor of both St Mary's Church and the Memorial Cross at Upper Carnoch.
In the 20th century, the house was acquired by Barbara Fairweather, founder of the Glencoe Folk Museum, before passing into its present ownership in 2004. Although recognised in the National Record of the Historic Environment, Invercoe House is not a listed building. Today, it offers a rare opportunity to become custodian of a substantial Highland home with a remarkable connection to Glencoe's past.
