ARE CRIMINAL RECORD DECLARATIONS ON JOB APPLICATION FORMS OF VALUE?
Thu 24 Jan 2019
Following research by the Scottish Centre for Crime and Justice, the value of criminal record declarations on job application forms has been called into question. The research appears to show that not only does the criminal record tick box do little to accurately predict the risk of re-offending, but in some cases, those persons who do not have a criminal conviction are more likely to offend than those who have one or more previous convictions. That raises the question as to why it is often assumed that candidates with a previous conviction are a risk to take on as an employee. Further details of the research can be obtained from the SCCJ website -https://www.sccjr.ac.uk/…/study-finds-criminal-record-tick…/
